Please Help

I've been using WinAmp for many years and love it but I've never used the Media Library until recently.

I just purchased an iPod and don't care for the iTunes application. I wanted to stick with WinAmp so I went looking for a plug-in for my iPod and found ml_ipod.

Now I was ready to organize my music so I opened the Media Library. Being a technical sort of person, I can't believe some basic functions are not included in the Media Library application and it's amazing that I can't find any plug-ins or posts related to these seemingly essential functions.

I am hoping that someone can help me out with this. Here are my issues:

(1) For years, I have organized all of my music in individual folders under a main music folder on my hard drive. (ie. C:\MY MUSIC\COUNTRY C:\MY MUSIC\ROCK C:\MY MUSIC\JAZZ etc.)

I can't believe there's no way to show what folder a file is in under the Media Library. Seems to me that it would be simple to add a sortable column for that. Not all of my files have the Genre listed and even the ones that do aren't always correct. That's why I've spent a ton of time grouping them in folders. Without the ability to see which folder songs are in within Media Library, I have to really study each song before deciding which playlist it belongs in.

(2) Surely there is a way to indicate if a song has been added to a playlist or not! I am looking at thousands of songs and I have no way to know if I've added any of them to playlists. I have to be missing something here.

What if I spend days organizing all of my music into playlists and then import several hundred more songs in to my library over time. How in the heck will I know which songs HAVE and HAVE NOT been added to playlists? Do I have to manually keep track of this information?

(3) Does WinAmp not have a way to show duplicate songs in your library?

Thanks in advance for any responses. - Shane.

most of your problems can be solved by switching over to media library alternative, dynamic library download the beta!

DL beta 1.1 discussion

1a)-1.0 FEATURE- yes this very possible with Dynamic Library, thats why this plugin was created.

1b)-ML_TREE- there is also a beta plugin that is being built right now, it is literally being revamped evertime it is updated...hes not asking for feature requests yet, so if you have any...just wait a while. ml_tree

2)-BETA FEATURE- ctrl+p > dynamic library > general tab > click "no keep existing entry but do action" or "ask confirmation" and set function to enqueue. now when you add a song from DL it will not create new duplicate entry. i havent tested it, but if you have a playlist as a root, you can send files to it, and it doesnt have to be open. not sure if this will work with those playlists or not.

3)-WINAMP FEATURE- depends on what your definition of duplicate is, if they are different files w/ difft locations then NO. if you have added the same file 2x then YES. rem > rem misc > remove duplicate entries (shift+delete)
