Can't insert ID3v2 tag! Error writing to temp file! Is drive full?

I am using Winamp 5.08e and Windows XP. I have 2 files that do not have an ID3v2 tag, they have v1, which doesn't allow the amount of characters for the titles. When I click the check box for ID3v2 and enter any text (or no text) in any slot then click OK I recieve the popup message "Can't insert ID3v2 tag! Error writing to temp file! Is drive full?" I can certainly say i do not have a full drive, i still have 440 Gb left. I read other posts and I checked to see if the files were Read-Only and they are not. Any other suggestions fellas?

I continued to experiment. I believe I may have found the problem, and solved it. The 2 tracks I was talking about had extremely long file names. I believe that there may be some limiting factor and won't allow an ID3v2 tag to be written if the file name is extremely long. Don't know the technical details, all I know is that I deleted several charaters in the filename of both tracks, then I could add and edit an ID3v2 tag. Hope this will help someone, I feel dumb that i didn't figure that out earlier. If someone could give me some insight as to what this is all about, would be much appreciated.

If the 2 files that you are having this problem with are set to read-only, then the error will be generated. Reset the file permissions on them and then all should be well.

[EDIT]
Nevermind. You seemed to have solved the problem in your 2nd post above while I was typing this reply.

But if it ever happens again, what I indicated can also cause such a problem.

However, I still tend to think that the long file names had nothing to do with it. I feel that once you edited/renamed them they were no longer read-only.
