Contact them for details. Also depending on how you paid you may be able to dispute the charge with the CC company.

They said I broke a rule in the Contact Information part of the Agreement, but I can't really find out what that was. I hope I get back my domain with the money I payed. I sent a reply to their feedback. Hope this error can be corrected. I probably have mistyped something wrong in the creditcard info or contact info... but as I said, I hope I can get a dialog with them and correct this matter

But as for the mail, it sounded like they could just take the money (for the full period of 3 years) just because I broke that one rule..

As a part of the mail sais:

Quote:
We have credited the charges in the full amount of $50. In addition we have deleted the products and services associated with the above charge.
Can anyone tell me what this means? Did they take my money or does credited mean that I can use the money for something else?

Lol, "credited" should mean you got it back on your card, if I'm not mistaken.

yea it is, usually the reason why is because something wasn't typed properly and the registration didn't finish. Don't worry, but I would suggest trying someone else instead of register.com ... it is rather expensive.

Why the hell would you use register.com to buy a domain?

I dunno, if you have any good suggestions, I'll gladly take it. And I think you're right. Credited mean that I should get back my money, so when that have happened, I could buy this domain another place. Any good suggestions?

What was the domain, they've probably kept it to be right cunts so they can sell it on at a vastly inflated price to someone else.

A friend of mines domain lapsed and he forgot to renew it, think he only paid a few dollars originally for the registration, anyhow being the kind soul I am, I figured I'd wait for it to come free again and register it for him, about a month passed, I check to see if it was free again only to find it with some crackerjack domain holding company 'this domain is currently available for purchase, please email support with you offer for it, bids start at $700'

Fuck off.

Yeah, what about the hosting and mail and stuff. I know a place where the packages start at £1 per month for uk domain name, hosting, 'unlimited bandwidth', mail, php, cgi-bin, perl & C, full log/stat access etc. 60 day money back guarantee. No minimum contract.

.com package is £1.60 per month.

double hosting space and a mysql database is £1.60 per month.

You can PM me if you want the URL.

you will still need some sort of host for the DNS servers. You can pay for DNS servers, but they may not be the best.

Oh, in that case I think $50 for 3 years is roughly the going rate for a .com registration only. I thought register.com were more expensive than that? dotster.com are $15 a year and a decent service.

What at dotster? Can you post the link where it says that? I just checked there and I couldn't find $8 reg.

I'm suggesting places I have recent experience of and have a reliable service track record and no hidden nasties.

re: MStar & protegechris' suggestions.
I don't know about those sites, I suggest you read all the smallprint before you use any service.

I've bought over 20 domains from DomainSite with no problems.
DomainSite includes DNS servers too.

I didn't mean to imply they were. I was just firing off a quick response. Perhaps I should've phrased it:

I don't know anything about those sites so I can't comment on them. I suggest you read all the smallprint before you use any service (including the one I suggested).

I'd plug my mate's service, but I think there's plenty here. Also I doubt you'd need the "located in the UK" feature...

Godaddy.com - fairly cheap, reputable. I have several domains registered with them.

*checks*

ooh, two of them expire in 18 days, too. Better get on that.
