Drag and drop HTTP files support in 5.09

I thought this had something to do with "hTtP force to 'Now Playing'" but apparently this is a separate issue.

I have a web server that hosts mp3 files. If I dragged the link for a particular MP3 over from the web window to Winamp 5.08 or the Winamp Playlist, it would automatically recognize the filetype and play it (or prep it for playing later). With Winamp 5.09, it turns my pointer into a "cannot drop here" symbol when I hover it anywhere on the Winamp interface.

I miss the feature of being able to drag and drop files onto my playlist. I would love to see this back.

For y'all who miss this feature, there is the workaround... in the Winamp Playlist, you can click on Add->Add URL and copy/paste the URL into it there, but that's a much more time-consuming method vs. the old (better) way.

Cool, thanks. Will check the plug-in out. I just registered and posted this today, but I truly honestly searched for the bug days ago and couldn't find any discussion about it.

Thanks for not brandishing me to the Sahara for not checking the bug report everyday.

5.09 is buggy as hell but is the first version of the New Nullsoft Team too... the same as the first Winamp3 version

Please Devs take the right time to correct the issues and work to add in Winamp more and more incredible features

(and release an incredible 5.1 version )

Good work new guys

Seems the drag'n'drop implimentation is still underdeveloped
in 5.091 (may 16 2005)

Dragging hi-fi streaming content from www.soundclick.com
used to work flawlessly, it now gives me an:

'Error syncing to mpeg' error every time..?

Media player classic 6.4.8.4 still works fine in this regard
but I prefer to use winamp.

Any ideas..?

Thanks guys

Hmm, I'm getting the same problem with 5.08d, so it doesn't look like a 5.09-specific issue.

All the lo-fi/hi-fi links from here are just dropping as "http://www.soundclick.com/util/check.smil" instead of the actual m3u.

(tested with both IE6 sp2 and Firefox 1.04)

Clicking the links works just fine, and the m3u's load/play ok.

Most weird, heh....

All other sites I've tested so far are working just fine for drag&drop.

ps. btw, you are using an old pre-release build of 5.091
5.091 was last updated on 19th May, and released on 20th May.

Thanks for the quick reply DJ Egg

Yup, Soundclick is a strange beast alright.
Being a free mp3 hosting site they try their upmost to
disparage deeplinking of mp3 streams, in favour of actual
proper site visits and all that goes with it.

Still, my previous winamp (feck, I can't remember which ver. sorry) used to cope with the above links fine.
Even going to the actual site page and dragging the hi-fi
link won't work. Clicking on it will though???

Strange the way media player classic can still decipher
the streaming content though ???

I'll test a few more sites and post my findings here...

Thanks again.

edit: ahh, cheers for the heads-up on the new version, I'll get it now and try it out
