HmmXP - New Skin

Completed a new skin.

Its very basic and simple, quite rare for me these days but, something I wanted to try out. It is based off a theme from Style XP that I had downloaded and it matches pretty well.

Take a look:

Here is the screenie...it uses skinners atlas but, is quite different. If you look at deviantart.com under visual styles for HmmXP you'll know what this is.

I agree with Dark Ninja. That totally rectangular, flat colour look makes it kind of look like someone's first skin. I like minimalist windowblinds (or xpstyles - similar thing) skins - like essorant's skins, for example. But his skins have a lot of character, whereas this one just looks too plain.

other than the colours, it doesn't look at bit like hmmxp (the VS I am using now btw)

I'm slow to complete skins, and the response in this thread suggests that I am a newb, without style and a few others. As for whether or not it looks like HmmXP, ehh yeah it does. Its direct copy & paste's of the bitmaps used for the skin except for the rectangular start button with the 4 quadrant color. All other things associated are exactly alike that skin. I'm not asking anyone to like it I just thought I'd share another creation.

Like I said, other than teh colours...
no sliers on it have those neither do any buttons in the skin look like what you have for the c-buttons. Ditto for the darkness on the resizable corners.

Well, I certainly suggested nothing of the sort. I know that garetjax has made possibly more skins than any other winamp skinner in history, so I certainly wouldn't call him a newb. I also know his style and his impressive technical abilities, so the last thing I would suggest is that he has no style. My comments were about the skin, and not about the author (and since the skin is not even based off his own artwork, I don't know how anyone could get that confused!)

One thing I will suggest: expect criticism. And when criticism comes, don't take it personally - there's no need.

i was just messing man...this was something I was working on in between the 2. I'm totally understanding on the criticism, Hell I just wanted to make something very simple not so much a detailed work like I have in the past ie get my feet wet again and actually publish something even though, it barely can be categorized with my other recent publishes.

As for the criticism Still...I always like it when you tell me what I could do rather than what I have done it helps me to further and hone my designs for the future.

Though, I will likely respond with some kind of sarcasm its not meant literally or directly at one person.

...iwuvya... j/k Really though, it was just an exercise at doing something simple rather than extremely complicated or detailed. My other 2 are still ongoing and I needed a distraction that could allow me to play and not get caught up in the internal pixel war that seems to be happening on the others.

Yeah thats very typical for most of what I do...I work myself into a corner until I cannot move forward unless I find some direction that I can go into. Currently the color issues on the Axlar skin are bothering the hell out of me. Finding a suitable solution isn't seemingly coming to me either...but, I have begun 50% of the playlist and it looks ok except for the titlebar ... because, of its stretch I cannot seem to be able to create a similar style for it. Grr...damn thing.
