Web player
Hello Guys!
I was reading threads all day (6 hours) and I got the answers for all my questions...so far but 2!! first is very important...: so I did the setup and so...have forwarded the chosen port to the local machine I have chosen to be the server...so far so good! I am able to go to another machine on the LAN and listen to my broadcast without any lag (delay)...ok..keep reading!!...when I put: the public address that comcast has given me http://blablaIP:9000 , I can listen for 3 seconds then it stops!...I KNOW I KNOW...they have said...that delays are always present...but in my case is kindof local is not it?!!! Can you help?! (The most logical explanation was that My cable MODEM does not support auto loopback (but comcast dudes said it does!!).....my broadcast address is: http://10.132.13.2:9000/listen.pls (try it if you please!) second question is: how can I get started to get a web player.. (u know a player inside a tiny web page!) Cheers...and thanks in advance! |

The Auto Loopback is a feature that you will only "know" by testing -- it really doesn't matter if your ISP says it should work, if you do everythying right, it just may not be allowed by your gear.
I didn't really understand what was your problem with delay, but if you can connect, local loopback is not a problem, but there wil be a delay ALWAYS, it doesn't evan matter if you're listening on the same PC as the DNAS -- moreover, that delay is not network-distance related, so your local listen delay could be possibly be greater than any of your remote listeners. It's just the way networking works. /* v2 HTML5 / Player test pages DigitalMixNYC, DigitalMixNYCbx | DNAS Status: Now Playing js codes (scaststatus_X.php) | PortForward.com | Upload/Download Speed Test | No-IP.com: Free Dynamic DNS | In the YP | dnasDir */ |

ok,
Thanks for your answer...do you mind trying listening to it? even thought...It does make no sense that I will have more lag than remote users...I kind of don't get it... http://67.172.134.252:9000 |

Delay often has more to do with the player than the server -- In WinAMP, RealPlayer, and probably others, the buffer size is configurable (either by seconds or RAM size) -- this is where most of the delay variance comes from.

My other question is not being answered!!! why...why!!! LOL anyways...I found some code to work with for that... What do u think about MICs??(I am trying to get a descent config for a talk show!)..I am concerned about background noise...and auto switching..instead of a toggle switch!! ![]() Thanks |

some polite advise
you are trying to stream at 80kbps from your home connection , nothing wrong there but there is no way in the world you can support 100 listeners on a home connection. time for some simple math. take your uploadspeed devide it by 80 kbps , the outcome is the max listeners. example: if your uploadspeed is 512kbps than you can savely support 5 listeners (512/80=6.4) you always need some bandwidth for overhead. |
