im on @home cable. typically (in IE) i connect using a proxy server thats configured in my LAN settings.. something like http://proxy:8080 .. and that seems to give me , and a lot of other people in my area, the same IP number. so im thinking i obviously cannot use that IP...

so then i send myself an email and look in the message source... take the ip from there assuming that is my REAL ip.. i use that.. try both ports 8000, and 8080 .. and i still cannot connect.. (im also assuming the password used for the server should be the same one i use for my email? or .. what else could it be?)

does anyone have any possible solutions?

please reply or catch me on aol instant messenger, mrfrosty1213 .. thanks

To find out your IP, go start/run/winipcfg

uh yes its true

WinIPCFG
Windows IP Config

It'll work as long as you're not behind a router or something.. I use a router to get my 4 machines online and it just displays my LAN ip.

ok.. i did that.. got my IP... still doesnt work.. it just says "error connecting" .. im thinking it has something to do with the password.. being that i have different passwords for different things.. and i really dont know which one i should use, or if i should use one at all.. ive basically tried them all.. still isnt working.. grrr..

thanks for your help though.

well you have to make sure you are using the password you specified in the shoutcast server .ini file

are you running the server on the same machine as winamp?

oh.. i just read your first message over..

I don't mean to be condescending, but are you running the shoutcast server? You have to run both the server AND winamp.. or find someone else running a server that you can stream through.

Send a message via ICQ to raingod42
DHCP

also, if you're behind a proxy server, you might be behind a DHCP server as well. which means you get a different IP every time you restart. if so - you can get a free dns service like ****** from the folks at http://www.deerfield.com . just a thought...
