Sub-par sound quality
My problem is that WINAMP can't seem to match the sound quality of Windows media player.
All of my music on my hard drive is in VBR(240~355Kbs)WMA format. But the problem is that no matter what the source WINAMP sounds like it's playing through blown speakers-won't get loud at all, distorted. Even playing CD audio (from a CD) sounds like it's played on headphones from 3 feet away. I don't understand why WMP sounds alright when the same song sounds like it's being played on blown speakers thru WINAMP. My PC is a HP pavilion zv5000 laptop, I have a Sound blaster audigy 2 zs notebook in the mail from tigerdirect.com. Will that help my problem? |

Prefs (Ctrl+P) > DSP/Effect > select '(none)'
Open equalizer (Alt+G) and be sure all sliders are in the middle. Try the DirectSound output tweaks. No luck? Are you using the latest version of Winamp? (i.e. 5.093) Did you install any 3rd-party plugins? Please provide full system specs. |
