Norton crashguard always catches a crash after I have finished using winamp 2.71 (this did not happen in previous versions).
It says, OleMainThreadWndName caused a general protection fault. I have taken a print screen of the error message. Consequently, the computer does then not shut down properly. Regards. |

sswan -
Do you have any non-Nullsoft plugins installed or enabled that you did not have before? Often, problems that occur when closing Winamp are due to third-party plugins screwing up. |

Winamp 2.71
Hiya Reverend!
No, I do not have any third-party plug-ins. My setup was exactly the same as before. A problem you might be able to help me with though is that I can't get winamp to play CDs (even though it is set up to i.e. associate etc.). When I go to play one, nothing even happens, no sound or visualisation effect. Yet winamp plays CDs to its hearts content on my dads computer. Regards, sswan. |

firstly, check that your volume controls in windows have their cd volumes up. then check that your volume in winamp is up too.
if that doesn't fix it then you could try using the CD Reader plugin instead. here's the url: http://www.url*****~copah/CDReader.htm |

Audio CD problems
Thank you so much for listing those other articles. I have now been able to sort the problem out, although I still get winamp 2.71 crashing after I use it.
Cheers, sswan |

I installed your plug-in but I'm afraid it didn't crash! It just ran as usual!
PS - Do you know how to turn *.wav files into MP3's? |

That's great. I've heard about two P3s that have this problem: Justin's laptop and Jake's (the MOD plug-in guy) machine (started to crash after upgrading from P2). Unfortunately, nobody else can reproduce it; people mentioned above don't seem to be going to help me. Imagine that one $#! 4-byte hexdecimal number would enable me to track down this shit and MIDI (and possibly MOD) decompression support would be bundled with Winamp. Yes, I am a hardcore AMD fan and every P3 crash I hear about brings an evil smile to my face. But this time I really want to find WTF is going on and fix it.
Anyway who cares ? Even I this bug doesn't get fixed before WA3 release, you will be able to pick that dll from my web site. Makes no damn difference for me. |
