ok, so a few days ago i installed the shoutcast server. went flawlessly. i was sooo happy, i could have kised someone (but alas, i'm a computer person, and no one to kiss). however, two days later, i found out that ALL of the web sites i've been running on my machine are down. all of them are stopped and when i try to start them back up - i get an "address already in use" message. i wouldn't have connected it to winamp, but...
there's a web server running on port 8000 serving the shoutcast info. for some reason, i can't view this through IE - only through netscape...
i can't figure it out... and so, my guess is that whatever web server is running port 8000 (is it using iis?) is stopping all the sites i have on my machine.
any guesses anyone?
ANYTHING would be appreciated.
thanks...

Port scanner

Have you tried to telnet to the port or use a port scanner?

Also the sever may have some other programming running under port 8000 maybe you have to try to set shoutcast to another port (check which ports are already used first!)

Hope this helps

figured it out

so, it was the windows media server that winamp recommends downloading that did the trick. why they recommend downloading it - i don't know. apperntly, it takes over port 80... so, i uninstalled it and everything works just fine...
i'm gonna post another note warning people of this...
