Hmm, ok, I noticed that key being used. I think its just the setting for whether it is enabled or not, thus skipping the WMP check. If you were to disable it in Messenger, then try to re-enable it, you may run into the problem again.
The psmsong.dll isn't needed for gen_msn or Toaster to work. psmsong.dll is just the WMP plugin which does the same thing, but for WMP. If you use regmon and filemon from sysinternals.com, you will be able to see what Messenger is looking for, and whether is succeeds or fails in opening particular registry keys or files etc. Which can give you a hint as to what it looks for to see if WMP is installed. This is where I got the keys that I attached. |
