Winamps changed..

" Integrated AOL Video Content (News,
Sports, Movies & more) " Since when did i want to know about all the american fear everytime i want to relax and listen to music. GREAT.

It also ( Like all of Aol's public software ) wants to install third party software from companies that i have had many issues with ( Wild tangent ). I loved winamp because it took almost no cpu power when it was on, Now it actually makes games lag ?
Now what my question is is whether or not winamp would be what it is ( Cpu hogging mp3/video/sports/news/cd burning app/free music gimmick ) If AOL hadnt bought it out. Would it still be the clean fast running MP3 player i remember? I wouldnt care if there was a link to download a old version of Winamp, but that doesnt exist.

I'm very disappointed in how Winamp sold out, but i guess it happens. Just wish it wasn't to AOL And i also realize this happened a long time ago. I havn't used winamp in a while.

Oh, excuse me. I was wrong about the third party software, I suppose they took that out because of all the complainers like me. (Way to go guys).

If AOL hadn't bought out Winamp back in 2000 it either a. would be dead, or b. would be 100% shareware.

To make it clean and light: When WA is installing, uncheck what you don't want.

The "integrated content" amounts to a link in the Media Library which gives you free stuff, I think. Calm down!

modern skins are slow, so don't use them while gaming.
winamp 5 with modern skins turned off, should be fast as anything and leave a relativly small memory footprint. (>17 megs for me with all my plugins and crap, 2 meg minimised)

the AOL video content is selectable, from the media library, not obtrusive at all.

If you're worried about the E-Music bundle, a non-bundled 5.093 full version is still available.
