Playlist - uncheck tags
When my Playlist comes up, a lot of the entries are changed from what I listed in their file names because either tag ID3v1 or v2 or both are checked (selected) in File Info.
a. is there a way to uncheck (unselect) all tags for all entries in the Playlist at once without going into the alt+3 file info for each? b. is there a way to do the same as above for selected groups of entries without doing all of them at once? |

Yup, by using the Media Library. The Media Library comes with the full version of Winamp.
Open the ML by right-clicking Winamp > Media Library, then click the Library button and select 'Add media to library...' Then select your music folder to import your files. Afterwards, your files should show up in the Local Media views in the Media Library. You can then select as much files as you like, right-click them and choose 'Edit selected items'. Remove info you don't like, be sure 'Update file tag(s) if supported' is checked and click Update. Either that, or use an external tagging application. Recommended tag editors: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....62#recommended You can also leave the tags as they are, and use $filepart(%filename%) as Advanced Title Formatting rule: Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Titles > Advanced Title Formatting. If you do that, the id3-tags won't be used to display your files in the playlist editor. |

Thanks! Just getting possible solutions from helpful people is sometimes enough to get one's mind broken free from 'not getting it' and being stuck.
In this case, I tried the $filepart(%filename%) suggestion and it did not work, perhaps because I do not have the full version of Winamp. Next, I tried downloading MP3Tag, but that didn't really work either. Then, the solution came to me, and it was there in Winamp all the time. I just grabbed those blocks where there was a problem of having a lot of extraneous info coming up in the playlist by selecting them as a group in the usual windows way (select the first file, press Shift then select the last file in the group, so you have a selected group), then to Alt +3, then I just positioned the cursor over the checkmark box for tag info, clearing it with one click, and hitting Enter to go to the next file and so forth until the end of the group was reached and the File Info dialog disappeared, along with my problem! Thanks again, and especially for how quickly you posted!

Glad it's all the way you want it now
![]() As for the ATF suggestion, you don't need the full version to use it... You do need to re-read metadata from the files in your playlist after you changed the ATF rule to display the changes in the playlist: Playlist editor: click 'Sel' button > Sel All / Select all (Ctrl+A) and then Playlist editor: click 'Misc' button > Misc (Opts) > Read extended info on selection (Ctrl+Alt+E) Maybe that'll be useful in the future... |
