Winamp process does not close immediately
Can anyone explain in plain english why after closing Winamp, it's process stays in task manager for at least 30 seconds? During this time, doubleclicking another MP3 in Windows Explorer does nothing and this behaviour is damn annoying. 5.093 did the same thing. I was hoping this will be fixed in 5.094 but no luck.
OS: Win2003 Server. This is so annoying that I am considering to drop winamp as a mp3 player. If I close it, I want it to close. Please don't start with "it's free", ok? |

Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Media Library > tab Online Media > click 'Modify Preferences' button > uncheck 'Look for new Online Media Channels on exit'
Note: if you uncheck that option, you will never receive any updates concerning the Online Media channels in the Media Library. The check could cause a delay if it's blocked by a firewall and it has to time out. If that's not it... Did you install any 3rd-party plugins/skins? Are you using AVG virus scanner, by any chance? Please provide system specs (including a HijackThis log). [edit] Hi JonnyMac, sorry..

It is very, very reasonably priced. (is that Ok ?)
![]() Try this... Winamp > Ctrl+P > General Preferences > Media Library > Online Media tab > Modify Preferences button > uncheck 'Look for new Online Media Channels on exit'That option is for the AOL Content/"channels" (Winamp/AOL Music/Vides) of the ML. With that option off, that means you will have to manually refresh the "channels" by pressing the refresh button. [edit] Err, late late | Hi siebe [/edit][edit2] It's OK, no need to be sorry [/edit2]

Improved, but still persists
Hi
Thank you guys, I have missed that checkbox. Now it's way better. After clicking close button process is out in 1 second or so. During this time processor goes up to 75%. I am using Symantec Antivirus 9.0.1.1 and Sygate Firewall (not sure it's related to these, though). Anyway, thanks again. I can live with it as it behaves now. |

hijack log.
Here is the log.
I forgot to answer in my previous post: I don't have any 3rd party plugins, just winamp, clean install (I didn't have any winamp installed previously). Thanks. P.S. I have noticed HijackThis was unable to retrieve correctly the information about MySQL Service. The service is installed, the file is there, but the service is stopped at this moment. Hijack has concluded the file c:\program.exe is missing. Hmmmmm.. The actual service registration is: "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\bin\mysqld-nt" --defaults-file="C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\my.ini" MySQL and if I click "start" the service jumps in. So Hijack is not perfect, but I'm thinking maybe for your goals is enough. Thanks. |

![]() @gdolghin: I think the behaviour you have now is normal. The high CPU usage for a second is most likely caused by saving of settings on Winamp exit. I had a quick look over your HijackThis log but didn't see anything disturbing. [edit] Huh, you attached it again? That's the same file, right? [edit2] No, you removed one line. Bad, bad...
