I can just play my music?

I just wanna get this straight.....

Once I get the server up, I can legally broadcast all the music that I have bought? Just like that?

What about the onee I might possibly have downloaded?

No you can NOT legally broadcast all the music that you have bought unless you are living in Canada , broadcast laws are somewhat different there.

if you stream copyrighted music you need to pay for doing that, depending on the laws of your country on this topic.

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

Oh sweet, I live in Canada

But what do you mean about paying for streaming copyrighted music? Wouldn't that just be buying it?

Nope - Spaceplay means paying royalties... what you pay for in order to use copyrighted works for public display/performance, whether video, photo, music or whatever...

Okay - each country has its own laws regarding broadcast of copyrighted works. In most countries, even if you own the CD, you do not have the right to put it on the air for public consumption without compensating the artists and composers. You should research laws in your country to determine if something is legal, not seek opinions on a forum. It doesn't matter whether the music was purchased by you, your friend, or your grandmother... the laws are the same.

Try this as a starting point

yes , you paid for the right to own that music and listen to it yourself or inside your home .
Now you want to stream it out into the world and there is the copyright law.
You can do this but you are publishing someone else his intellectual proportie, he/she owns the rights on that piece of music that is the reason why you pay.
