i went to the site and clicked on download then it goes straight to the thing to save it, get more info, or pick application. i choose save, it says it's downloading, i go to the hard disk, find it, click on it, and it says the application that created it cannot be found.
the instructions say something about picking a location, and when something comes up, choosing run from location or something but i don't get that stuff coming up. |

true newbie :)
ok, when the "you have started to download a file . . . .
then do i pick : save file, pick app., or more info" comes up - that's the window that will always come up when you're downloading something. anything. what downloading means is your moving one file from the server (simply another computer) on to your hard drive. when you choose save to file, it starts transfering the file. as i'm guessing your connecting with a modem, this might take alittle while. keep the window (with the status bar that comes up after you hit save to hard drive) open. follow it until it reaches 100%. only after it FINISHED downloading can you open the program - or else you'll get the message you've been getting. once it's done, click onthe file to open it. in your case, i would simply keep hitting next until it installed itself (read the stuff, don't be stupid, but it should be smart enough for you simply to click next all the time). good luck, and hey - don't feel bad, most newbies i know will never post anything ina newgroup - they won't know how... |
