While playing a cd winamp pauses between each song and resets balance on volume control to the far right. Cd then continues on after pause but with only one speaker playing.

Is the balance slider (located between the volume slider and the EQ button on your main Winamp window) properly centered? |

Don't feel stupid, it happens to people all the time. In fact, in Winamp 3.0 they are eliminating that balance slider from the main window. To get rid of pauses between track, you first need to download and install the CD Reader plugin (if you haven't already): http://www.url*****~copah/CDReader.htm Be sure to read the instructions that accompany the plugin. The CD Reader plugin directs the CD output through Winamp, so you can apply EQ settings, etc. (Otherwise, CD output goes directly from your CD-ROM to the soundcard and can't be manipulated). Next, you will need to download and install a "gapless" plugin or a "crossfader" plugin that will make the tracks flow more seamlessly. Here's one: http://www.geocities.com/sqrsoft/ You can search for others in the Winamp "Skins & Plugins" section or in the forums here. Try using "gapless" or "crossfader" as keywords. |

Pfft. They should make gapless CD playing default in Winamp 3. I don't want to have to be adding a crapload of plugins and other BS just so my CDs can play the way they were recorded.

Gee, thanks for unearthing a 5-day-old thread so you could make a comment that's already been repeated 46 million times. Everybody in the world knows that Winamp's default CD handling has problems. Either wait for Winamp 3.0 or use another player in the meantime.
