How does ML interact with its embedded instance of IE?
I ask because over on the MozillaZine forums there is a thread about a plugin provides an API for embedding IE into a tab in Firefox. This enables things like Windows Update through Firefox. However, it is still in its early stages. This plugin has a lot of potential, but hasn't had an update since it was posted (the extension has been updated, however).
Installation: Plugin, Extension - both are needed for it to work. Source Code (GPL) One problem is, the embedded IE object has ActiveX turned on, even if it is off in IE's settings. ML has an option to disable javascript/ActiveX in the IE that is in the Now Playing view in ML. What does it pass to IE to change this setting? What else does it do to it? Also, one major hurdle to this plugin's development is that it cannot get IE's page history to integrate with Firefox's back/forward buttons. Basically, this plugin can embed IE, but not interact with it at all. Would anyone happen to know how to do that, or where some documentation is? If so thanks in advance. Edit: updated extension link. http://pile0nades.wordpress.com/ Last edited by pile0nades; 25th September 2005 at 10:25. |
