Hi,
i would be glad to know if i can set-up winamp to be used in a multi-user environment where everyone can store his preferences in his profile instead of assigning everyone administrator rights...

or you can just wait for 5.11 for native support (there's no eta on it though!)

Okay, I can be patient. The problem is two of my kids who share a computer. I got them using WinAmp and convinced it was better than iTunes and WMP. Then they ran into the multi user flaw and insisted that I take WinAmp off their computer. I tried one of the work arounds and did not quite get it right. I'll try to put them off for now, maybe with a white lie about the release date.

When this version of WinAmp is released, I'll bet there will be a mad rush on the download site!

Installation was ok

well,

finally i installed winamp in a directory (under "\") where "users" have permissions to do everything (execute, read, write). winamp seems to work fine right there,

see you

And this worked so that when different users open WinAmp they each have their own settings and ML? I must be doing something wrong trying to follow instructions in the other threads.

Oh well, I guess I may just have to wait for the next release to have it work properly. Problem is that may be 6 days or 6 months, no one is hinting, and the kids are not very patient!

If you can't work out how to use the multi-user plugin, then just install Winamp once, then copy the Winamp folder to each individual user's folder (eg. C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Winamp), then create a relevant shortcut to each respective winamp.exe in their start menu / on their desktop.
