Amazing disapearing Playlist

I have winamp 5.1 and I've got it with the basic modern skin. I then use winamp in windowshade mode, and set it to always ontop. However it doesn't stay always ontop. I either have the playlist ontop or the winamp player. Both items will stay on top for a short time, usually till I change windows twice and then one or other of them will dissapear.

I'm using Windows XP home edition SP2.

This is actually getting really irritating as I like to be able to use both the playlist and the main window without having to have it selected.

Prefs (Ctrl+P) > General Preferences > 'Disable always on top while fullscreen applications are focused'

Does unchecking that option change anything?
