Multiple Instances of Winamp 5.1
Hello everyone,
I am running Windows XP Professional with SP2 and Winamp 5.1 on an IBM A31 labtop, and have selected the checkbox to Allow multiple instances. However, when I double-click to open a second .m3u file, it clobbers the first one that I had already opened. I need to have about 4 instances of these open. I tried opening a second one by double-clicking on just the winamp icon and loading a playlist by dragging and dropping the second playlist in, and this causes the music from the first playlist to loop. What am I doing wrong or is this a bug of some sort? thanks, Brian |

if using winxp, you can open with different credentials/run as, this will open another instance as well
also, you will have to drag the playlist file to the 2nd instance of winamp, or use the load playlist button on the playlist window im not sure, but i think that all double-clicks on files associated to winamp will go to the first instance (i also recomend setting enqueue as default) |

If you want playlist files (m3u / pls) to open automatically in a new instance of winamp when double-clicked, then change the default command line for "Play in Winamp" (via: Windows > Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types tab > M3U > Advanced > Play in Winamp > Edit) to:
"C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe" /NEW "%1" |

Thanks!!!!
Thanks very much, that worked perfectly.
In the older versions is was just a matter of selecting the checkbox. Do you happen to know why the checkbox selection doesn't work anymore and why you have to change the command line? Just curious at this point. Again thanks very much for your prompt assistance with this. I greatly appreciate it! ...Brian |
