Is AOL your browser? The playlist generates an HTML document and needs a program that handles HTML to open it. AOL won't do that. If you have a copy of IE in your system, you could open that first, then generate the playlist from Winamp.

You have to make sure that HTML files are associated with (open with) IE. In Windows Explorer, navigate to Tools->FolderOption->FileTypes. Scroll down the file types list in the popup window and set up the association for HTM and HTML with IE.
I'm pretty sure that, once you get this association set up, you won't have to bother in the future opening IE first. It should be automatic. Guess I should have told you this first, but I thought it would work the other way. |

Windows 98...
Look at the very top menu bar in Windows Explorer. You shiuld see the word "Tools". Clicking on this should open a popup window. "Folder Options" should be in that list. |

If you're still having trouble finding Folder Options, you might look in the Control Panel. I'm using Windows ME now, and I'm not sure of all the differences from Windows 98, but ME has it there.

Folder Options is actually under the "View" menu.
Alternatively, goto "Start" button -> Settings -> Folder Options Click the "File Types" tab Scroll down for Microsoft HTML Document, hi-lite it & click "Edit" In the "Actions" section, find the one that says Open (with Internet Explorer) This could just be "Open", so you'll need to hi-lite this entry & click "Edit" for confirmation. The command line will be: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE MIME Type = text/html Use DDE = checkmarked (details available if necessary, please provide IE version details) Anyway, hi-lite this entry & click "set default" If it doesn't exist, then oops, you'll have to enter the action yourself via the "New" button. Alternatively, locate any htm or html file on your HDD: hi-lite it, shift + right click -> Open with Browse to IEXPLORE.EXE (path as above) This should do it. IE has to be the default program for html files for the generate html playlist function to work. |
