Winamp for Mac OSX?

ive been trying to find a version of Winamp for my comp (a Mac running OSX) and all ive found is an old Alpha version for OS 8.5 and up that came out in 2001.
i want to find it for mac so, if for no other reason, ill have a good universal media player.
the read-me that came with the one i found said that there was a version for OSX in production, if there is, when will it be out and if its finished where could i find it?
if it isnt really happening, then why not?

thank you ^_-

there is no osx version and there is unlikely to be one at all. why? because there's not enough time, funding and everything else on the windows version let alone working on building a new version for other OSes (and a search should have popped up countless similar threads about this and linux and whatever else people use)
