Winamp visualizations choppy

hey guys was wondering if there is a way i can get the visualizations running with a decent framerate in fullscreen mode. the only way I am able to is to double the pixels and it doesn't matter what resolution I run it at in fullscreen mode. I usully run it at 1024x768 32-bit. my specs are as follows

Intel P4 2.4 gHz HT
512MB DDR Ram PC400
sound blaster Audigy 2
Windows XP SP2
Direct X 9.0c
Nvidia geforce FX 5900 128MB
Nvidia Forceware drivers 78.01
Winamp 5.1 using modern skin
