Does Winamp not support > 44100Hz sample rate MP3s?

I'm guessing this is well known but why can winamp (my version is 5.08 i think) not play 48KHz MP3s? It's quite frustrating because every other play I have does and i'd rather not use Windows Media Player to play my songs!

Works fine here.

Installed any crappy 3rd-party mp3 plugins maybe? (in_mp3pro springs to mind)
