Need to use RelayServer with authorization...
I want to relay stream but need to authorize first.
So if I just specify RelayPort=someport RelayServer=someip I get <10/22/05@15:47:30> [source] relay host returned error (HTTP/1.0 401 Unauthorized()) [waiting 30s] How I can specify username and password? Thanks! |

Shoutcast can not relay another server requiring authentication, which I suspect in this case is Icecast or a WebServer.

It is possible, as it does support the Shoutcast DSP, ... but check
http://www.icecast.org/ not something people would be able to answer here Also, I would suspect whomever is providing the Authenticated stream might be a little upset if you begin relaying it without their permission ... just a thought. I'm relaying with permission...
Just not understand - why not to add option with username/password for relaying? |

i think you'll find by default .. Shoutcast does not provide a method for protecting streams, so ultimately means it would not need to provide a method to relay them.
If you provide a link to the stream, people may be able to come up with a work around... BW Without open minds the world will die. Open yours and correct the mistakes you are making right now. |

not a silly question, at all, just Shoutcast does not provide the mechanism to do it
![]() Have a look over the Icecast site, it can relay a Shoutcast server, and I believe you have put usernames/passwords in there, so is probably the best solution for your situation. BW Without open minds the world will die. Open yours and correct the mistakes you are making right now. |

im curious to see why someone would authenticate the server and then allow someone to relay it?
defeats the object really,,wouldnt you say? authentication is created so that people can not take what they want and re-stream it and not really meant to be user friendly when people are trying to relay it as that is the sole purpose of it,, |

I'm not certain that it is possible. It seems to me that "Allow public relay" is a yes or no question in the config script. Not password protected..... just yes or no.
At any rate, if you are trying to relay a shoutcast stream into your lan, you could use VLC, which would be easier anyway. |
