Winamp >5.05 crashes

At first: sorry for my bad English.

Now my problem:
Everytime, when I enqueue a track in Winamp version 5.06 or higher and then minimize it to the tray, the program crashes while trying to change the track.
I tried to reinstall it, but it didn´t help, so I installed version 5.05 again.

When you reinstalled, did you do a clean install?

Also try the DirectSound output tweaks.

If that doesn't help...
Which file format are you having problems with? (mp3/wma/etc.)
Are you using the classic or the modern skin?

Please provide full system specs (including a HijackThis log).

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

so....

I did a clean install, but it still crashes.
But I found out, that it only crashes, when my whole playlist is loaded, not when there are only a few tracks.

I´m having the problems with mp3 and I´m using a classic skin.

I had a quick look over your HijackThis log and didn't find anything suspicious.

Sorry that I didn't ask earlier, but do you get any error messages when Winamp crashes?
And which version of Winamp are you using now exactly?

There have been many reports of 5.09 crashing on msvcrt.dll. It is yet unclear what's causing the crash exactly.

You could try another clean install, this time without Sonic Burning & Ripping support (uncheck it in the installer). That could be the cause of the issue.

Or downgrade to 5.08d/e for now:
Winamp 5.08d
Winamp 5.08e (if you have DRM-protected WMA files)

It would be useful to us if you'd post back here wether a clean install of 5.09 without the Sonic engine fixes the issue for you. (if you're indeed having a msvcrt.dll crash)

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

I did a clean install without the Sonic Burning & Ripping support, but it doesn´t work.
But I recogniced a mistake I made: Winamp also crashes, when it isn´t minimized to the tray. Everytime I enqueue a track and the program tries to change to the next track, it crashes. I didn´t know it at first, because my Winamp is always minimized to the tray. Sorry about that.
When it crashes, I get an error message, but it´s German. I tried to translate it, but I don´t know, if it helps...

WINAMP causes an error through an invalid page in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff7b9a6.

The typical Windows error message
I´m actually using version 5.09, but the error also appears with 5.06 and higher.
Just 5.05 and lower don´t crash.
It won´t be very dramatic, if it doesn´t work, because I like 5.05, too. But it would be nice to have the newest version.
And of course there are the security fixes...

Mmh, running out of ideas here...

Do you have any international characters in the filename/tags of your files?

Maybe try reinstalling your soundcard drivers.

Although it's weird the problem doesn't occur with 5.05...

Anyone else ideas?

Same problem...

I have the same problem. Winamp crashes every time when automatically trying to change tracks using enqueue. It simply crashes, with *no* error message whatsoever. If, on the other hand, I use the <B> button ("Next"), everything is fine.

Replicable with both DirectSound output (DirectX 7.1 and 9.0c) and waveOut. Crashes with mp3, wma, ogg files.

Sys specs:
clean install Winamp 5.111 (it also happens in 5.1 and 5.09)
no 3D party plugins
Win ME (with the latest patches)
Via AC'97 on a KT133A, latest WDM driver
Install options: Modern Skin Support, Extended Jump to File Support, all Audio File Support, Direct Sound Output Support.

This thing is very annoying.

P.S.

I just replicated the same problem on another system. PII 333, C-Media PCI soundcard, Winamp 5.1, Windows ME, DX7.1 output and waveOut. Happens the same thing, but here with error message in <user.exe>, if I remember correctly (I don't have much access to this one).

Another bug, but this one solved. I post this one here because they might be related.
I said in my latest post that when using <B> key everything is fine. Well, i was wrong.
If i enqueue a lot of files (~20-30), start playing the first one, and then very quickly jump to the next ones with <B>, i get an error message in <IN_WM.DLL> after a few jumps. I consider this to be quite strange considering that none of them were *.wma. I can reproduce this always, even with no WMAs in the playlist.
Solved by uninstalling WMA input plugin .
But now i'm getting random errors in IN_VORBIS (fewer), in the same conditions as above. Cute, very cute.

By "enqueue" do you mean by selecting files in Windows Explorer and using the "Enqueue in Winamp" context menu, or do you mean by queueing files that are already in the playlist to be played next, by using Q / Alt+click / Jump to File window > Enqueue Selected?

If the latter, then make sure you are using the lastest version of the JTFE plugin.

Also confirm whether you've got ANY other 3rd-party plugins installed, eg. CuePlayer.

Note, I can't reproduce this problem under Win XP or 98SE with 5.111

Enqueuing in the playlist editor, using the <Q> key.
