Video IPOD trouble...
Hey everyone,
I'm new to these forums. I just picked up the new 60gb Video Ipod today and took it home and hooked it up to winamp and everything went pretty smoothly. The only problem is that it copied every song over to the ipod and lists it as a song and as a video instead of just a song. So instead of having 3000 songs and 0 videos I have 300 songs and 3000 videos. Is anyone else having this problem? Anyone know how to correct it? Thanks |

This forum might be a better place to check, it's specifically about the iPod plugin.

I just got my new iPod set up and running with Winamp and the plugin. I checked and the one song I copied over as a test IS listed both as music and as a movie.
May just be something in mliPod which will be fixed once a version of mliPod comes out that takes the new 5th G iPod into account. When this plugin was written, no video iPod existed, so I am just glad it works with my music! I will look over at the iPod lounge and on Apple iPod forums to see if anyone using iTunes is having this same thing happen. The really interesting thing is that if I menu to the video listing on my iPod and play the "video" listing of the song, it plays the music file. |

Confirm that it is probably just something that Will will fix with the next release that takes the video iPod into account. I just put 250 songs on the new 5thG iPod tonight and they are all counted and listed as both music and video files and can be played from both places. The files themselves are only on the iPod once, it's just a listing issue.
Does not matter to me since I have no video on the iPod as of now. It could get confusing for someone who loads a few videos and has them mix in with their music. |

Same issue here. Music is listed in both video and music section. Doesn't really bother me yet since I have no videos, but a future fix would be nice

Yeah, I have a video for the iPod that worked whenever I put it on with iTunes, but didnt work using mliPod. Im sure someone is working on a avi/mpeg -> mp4ipod converter, if not, get to work, coders!
And ya, us bleeding edgers will have to wait for the next release of mlipod to get our videos working with Winamp.Bah, back to iTunes!

I found an app that converts to m4v/mp4 for the ipod! Yay!
http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/ Go forth my friends, watch movies. I also got the iPod AV cable which works pretty slick on the TV (be sure to enable TV Out - On in Video Settings). |

I was looking around for information about the ipod database, and I found this:
http://ipodlinux.org/ITunesDB#Track_Item 208 unk28 4 unknown (added in dbversion 0x0c). It seems that this field denotes the type of the file on (e.g.) the 5g video iPod. It must be set to 0x00000001 for audio files, and set to 0x00000002 for video files. If set to 0x00, the files show up in both, the audio menus ("Songs", "Artists", etc.) and the video menus ("Movies", "Music Videos", etc.). This is under Track Item in the itunesDB. Looks like this might be the problem? |
