Riots in France

so like....apparently there are riots in Paris or something. Something about the Muslim ghettos are mad about 2 black kids being killed by being electrocuted after hiding in some electrial shed after being chased by police.

Can someone give me the heads up on what's going on? The only decent news reports I can find are in french, and I speak only American and English.

wow. 10th day. That seems...organized. I didn't know the french had enough in them to go on fighting like this for more than a week.

Europe needs a harder right wing element to it in my opinion, it is precisely because of the soft, socialist methods of government that have been in place since the end of the second world war that has caused this sort of problem. 11 now, but CNN was still reporting only 2 deaths, but the BBC report above said 3. Either way, it must be bad there if all the ghettos across france are rioting. Does nothing happen during the day? I would hope so, at least then schol children are safer (i would suppose)

Yeah, they're burning churches, schools and they've also burned about 4,000 cars.

The real reason is that the riots were waiting to happen. The worst neighbourhoods in France's big cities are neglected and very run-down, which is where most of the imigrants live. There is a lot of prejudice against them: it is virtually inmpossible for youths round there to get jobs or escape the ghettos. The two kids getting electrocuted was just the spark that lit the fire, a bit like the murder of Franz Ferdinand (not that this will escalate into a full-on European war... I hope).

Maybe Team America will be called in. They the Eiffel Tower will be destroyed.

Well for example neighbourhood police in those quarters got severely cut back recently, at the same time it was increased in the rich quarters.

The current interior minister (=home secretary) bluntly refused to enter any dialog, fortunately Chirac seems to get increasingly tired of him but so far he's very popular with the right-wing scum.

Has the French government done anything to quell the riots? Here in the US the National Guard or Army Reserves would have been called in by the end of day 2 I bet. At the very least a swat team of FBI riot team. Does France have any organizations like that to call on, or is their only option past local police the active military?
