Riots in France
so like....apparently there are riots in Paris or something. Something about the Muslim ghettos are mad about 2 black kids being killed by being electrocuted after hiding in some electrial shed after being chased by police.
Can someone give me the heads up on what's going on? The only decent news reports I can find are in french, and I speak only American and English. |

wow. 10th day. That seems...organized. I didn't know the french had enough in them to go on fighting like this for more than a week.
Surely (sp) more than just the deaths of 2 boys caused this though. Background? |

Indeed, this was just the trigger. The pressure has been building up, but what that is is unclear. Just six months earlier, another riot ensued. "The trouble started after a man of North African descent was shot dead."
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4594019.stm Good God, I hope race isn't the cause of the current riots. What the fuck is wrong with this world when we can't live together peacefully? Spiral out, my friend. You will find your way back to yourself, we all will. I'll be waiting, and shall see you on the other side... |

I wonder if the French will surrender to the Muslims...

Well at least they probably won't go invading their countries and killing hundreds of thousands of civilians in the process.

Europe needs a harder right wing element to it in my opinion, it is precisely because of the soft, socialist methods of government that have been in place since the end of the second world war that has caused this sort of problem. Rascism doesnt help, but in the end rascism is only a tiny, minor point in this. |

The real reason is that the riots were waiting to happen. The worst neighbourhoods in France's big cities are neglected and very run-down, which is where most of the imigrants live. There is a lot of prejudice against them: it is virtually inmpossible for youths round there to get jobs or escape the ghettos. The two kids getting electrocuted was just the spark that lit the fire, a bit like the murder of Franz Ferdinand (not that this will escalate into a full-on European war... I hope). Maybe Team America will be called in. They the Eiffel Tower will be destroyed. |

Team America! FUCK YEAH!
I'm sorry, I had to do it. But eleven days of full-blown rioting... Jesus. I'm glad I'm not French (okay, moreso than normal). |

I try to keep as little as possible against France.
If you lean on them, you then tend to smell funny and piss in the street.

These aren't even stereotypical French jokes, they're just nonsense. I've ended up frowning and confused.
It's kinda like saying that the whole Hurricane Katrina thing was funny because people from New Orleans are all deaf in one ear and shit themselves constantly. Apologies if that's actually true. |

Hmmm, this might make the right wing extremists even more angry in France - if the immigrants want a nazi government this is probably a good way of going about it...
... though the current government seem so wet it's unbelievable. If I were them I'd have had the army out stopping them by now - in a civilised society, people do not go out burning cars and trashing municipal buildings.... |

They need to have some Fire Ze Missiles!! at those fuckers. Seriously though, I don't know how much "dialogue" has gone on between the insurgents and the government. Maybe they just got to breaking point after being ignored so much.
And Cabo, come on, you know it's piss-easy to make blatant stereotypes of Americans. You're just annoyed that the French aren't cowboys and don't attack countries and ask questions later. |

The current interior minister (=home secretary) bluntly refused to enter any dialog, fortunately Chirac seems to get increasingly tired of him but so far he's very popular with the right-wing scum. |

Has the French government done anything to quell the riots? Here in the US the National Guard or Army Reserves would have been called in by the end of day 2 I bet. At the very least a swat team of FBI riot team. Does France have any organizations like that to call on, or is their only option past local police the active military?

Aboot time those cheeze monkeies did more than support terroism and help saddam get nuklar weapons.
And last i heard, the french gov. slapped down a curfew. Which really does nothing. Like most gun-control laws. The good folks were already staying inside to avoid teh hoodlems. To get a good scale of this, remember what happened after the Rodney King verdict? Take that down a few nothces, and yer there. Those boys over there just don't have the same blood lust as Mericans. Remember, most countries don't have huge militaries or tactical forces. Just weren't nessecary. But they really wouldn't be very critcal anyway in solving all of this. Again history. MLK jr. and all them. Whitey tried shock troups, didn't work. Just gotta get with the times. |
