Winamp Changing Volumes Automatically?
Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about and can help me fix this. I have settings I like in Windows XP's Sound Volume Control where I have all my settings to the highest setting possible, but when I go to adjust the volume in Winamp, it always changes my Wave setting down almost to it's lowest setting in the Sound Volume Control, then I have to open it and adjust the volume back to it's highest again. This also happens after each song switch. Is there a way I can keep Winamp from change this setting as it chooses to keep the sound consistent?

I hear ya and that was annoying as hell for me too. Don't know if you already got an answer, but the way I figured how to fix it was go into the output settings and then configure the waveOut settings, select your sound card, then go to the volume settings click enable and alt. setting method (slow). Now the master volume, Wave volume, and winamp volume are all independant of each other :-)

Prefs > Plugins > Output: Switch to DirectSound Output instead of WaveOut.
(and yes, the only way to make WaveOut not affect system waveout is to enable the alt setting method). Note: DirectSound Output requires DirectX 8 or higher to be installed. |
