CPU % used when i close winamp
hello
on my last pcs, i alwals had that pb: winamp runs correctly (cpu used to less than 10%) but when i close it, the cpu load always rise to 100% Which means the temperature and the noise of my cpu increases, which makes it necessary to reboot my machine. My two computers: windows xp 750mb ram geforce4ti soundblaster pro 32 amd 1700+ and windows xp 1Gb ram geforce 6600GT motherboard chipset AMD 64 3500+ For both cpu, the same pb occurs with power dvd. No pb with bsplay, window media player, media player classic, or any game/software. It's so strange. I never heard anybody else complain about this issue. |

Could really be a number of things, but it sounds like either a registory prob, or hardware prob (possably driver or device its self. maybe a bios update is in order?). might want to benchmark your system as well to help identify the true source of the prob. since this happens with more than 1 program its likely something thats shared between them is causeing the issue. hope this helps

Do you use AVG anti-virus?
Because, that used to make that exactly happen to me, when I had AVG Free. It scans 'winamp.ini' on close. |

i'm using norton anti virus and firewall on both computers.
I've just enabled it and there's still the pb with winamp. ![]() What is crazy is that, except for window xp, almost everything is different on my two coomputers. |

I finally solved the pb....
Killing almost every task with the task manager, i found out that "TouchMgr.exe" was the source of the pb. It's the driver for my trust keyboard, which i used on both my computers. Thanks for all those who answered me. Hope it will help someone facing the same pb. |

I've been using WinAmp for YEARS, and I just developed the same problem!
Unfortunately, I'm not running that keyboard driver like you are... Hmmmmmm..... |

If it's not one of the issues/causes already mentioned above, and if it's not some 3rd-party plugin to blame (installed any perhaps?), then the only other possible cause I can think of is:
Winamp > Prefs > Media Library > Online Media tab > Modify Preferences button: Uncheck: Look for new Online Media channels on exit |

Well, I just did a clean uninstall and reinstall, and added my plugins back one at at time...
The culprit seems to be the iPod plugin! I poked around in that forum and found a solution! Thanks for the suggestion regarding the option to uncheck... |
