mp3 files vanished

I have all my cd's backed up on my 120gb maxtor. About 75% of the album folders just vanished off the harddrive. All the A's B' and C's are still there but everything else gone. I even used the search file function on windows and it finds nothing. But this is the best part. When i open winamp and the playlist it opens all the files and plays them. But I cant even see the files

What the heck should I do. If winamp plays the files they have to be available somehow I would think. I just dont want to lose all that work

Right click the playlist entry and select "Playlist Entry".
If the file plays, then the path in there MUST be the actual path.

Make sure the containing folders don't have the hidden attribute.

What's your Windows OS?

For WinXP...

Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab
Checkmark: Show hidden files and folders

Then go to where those folders are, right click them, select properties,
and uncheck the "hidden" attribute. Click Apply/OK to apply it to the folder(s) and all files within the folder(s).

Note, to view hidden files/folders in WinXP Search, you need to checkmark that option...
Search > All files and folders > More advanced options:
Checkmark: Search hidden files and folders

Please also note that Winamp is not responsible for making folders hidden, nor can it physically move or rename your files... at least, not the default distro anyway (I can't vouch for any 3rd-party plugins, if you've installed any that is).

My os is winxp. I have tried what you said and the files are not hidden its like they just arent there. When I right click the album folder its says there is only like 15gb or so in that folder.I know that there was atleast 45-50 gb before. I right cliked on one of the songs in the playlist and got its full path and used the win search option and it found it. But if I go where the path says it in on my drive its not there. Winamp can see the files but I cant I just dont understand

This happened to me as well. I don't know what happened. Here's[/url] a screenshot. Winamp just went all weird all of a sudden. ANy help will be most appreicated
