What Winamp and assorted plugins are you running?

howdy howdy. I am running Winamp 5.04(slow internet and the latest seems to be just useless upgrades)
the plugins in order of greatness are [I do not remember the name on here, just the name under the plugins section in winamp]:
#1 Joystick Controller by Optimus Gaming, lets you use a joystick to control song playing, best one I found(using mircrosoft sidewinder precision pro)
#2 Winamp [Key]Controller v4.04.... dont use it for controlling winamp (the joystick does all that I need) but it has the best resume feature I have found.
#3 Announcer 1.0 displays the name and artist as it appears in the playlist window I think, doesnt read id3(good thing to me)
#4 Chun-Yu's MP3 Writer plug-in v3.0, best MP3 writer I have found for winamp, but nowdays I prefer the one included with roxio easy CD&DVD creator 6.
#5 Yahoo! Messenger Status Plugin v0.5.1 displays the name of the song you are listening to, easy to format, does not have an advertisement when you turn it off
#6 EZ-PlayList Plug-In v1.4 Not an everyday usefullness, but its great for mass organizing/renaming/retagging

I usually use the classic skin in the windowshade mode, since I have a song announcer and the joystick controll, but I sometimes use Hals_Eye at 50% size, slight opaquety, or Timepiece, the clock is actually the right time

This is what I am running. If you cant find one of those plugins, ask me for it and I can email you the file, maybe the exe if I have it still
What are you running and your preferred plugins

Hmmm... Useless upgrades? First, Winamp 5.04 is no longer supported. Next, if you upgrade to Winamp 5.05, it fixes many bugs and security issues, including this major security issue (also mentioned in more detail here). I don't consider that useless, do you?

I'm not gonna list all my plugins here, but I will say that most of them are developed by DrO.

Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads.

I stand corrected... the Winamp 5.05 upgrade is not just useless things, but a security fix for skin installations, among others. Skins of which I would hope are not on the winamp website(since they have a review by a staff member) I am not a big skin collector, because few change the way winamp works, its just cosmetics (hence the name), but even though I do not feel at risk, I should not of gave the idea it is useless, and I will upgrade when there is improved functionality to winamp. but I suppose thats just me being greedy since I have not paid for winamp pro, nor donated in cash nor coding, I have no logical reason to expect another upgrade or feel one is due. but I do appreciate the genious program, the atmosphere and mindset of the website and winamp, and especially the low, free cost of everything. I would like to pay, not to get winamp pro(I use other programs to burn cds and rip CDs) but the third reason of supporting Winamp, and the availiability to those not fortunate enough to pay. If only there were more payment options.

Very well said, sirebob, and I am not in dispute, other than with one thing you said...

Don't feel that you are not at risk either because you aren't downloading skins, or because you are downloading skins from a "trusted" site like Winamp.com. Read the below partial quote from DJ Egg and I'm sure you'll see why you certainly can be at risk and why I still recommend that you upgrade...

You'll probably be safe if you knowingly download any wsz or wal file.
It's when the url is a seemingly unsuspicious link to a .php or .jpg that you've got to worry, because that's currently how the exploit is utilized.
That aside and to get back on topic, check out some of DrO's plugins. You may feel that many are useful for you. I refer to DrO as the the "Magical Genie of Winamp plugins / enhancement" at the Winamp section of my site.

I will look at DrO's plugins, thanks for the advice, I might start downloading the upgrade tonight, but what are the payment options (something as simple and not much more complex than mailing a check or money order to an address would work for me)

I am looking at the random thoughts section of your sight... yes, very random. I like the good ole saying of If at first you dont succeed, skydiving definately isnt for you

Payment options? No, no, no. You misunderstand. I'm not suggesting that you purchase Winamp Pro. Just upgrade to the Winamp 5.05 Full FREE version, which also takes care of the security exploit.

I partially quote myself from above...
Quote:
...security issues, including this major security issue (also mentioned in more detail here).
Read the 2nd link above, for more details, insofar as you obtaining the worm even without you knowing it. This is why I recommend upgrading.

And yeah... random thoughts and a lot of other "wacky" stuff at my "wacky" site. LOL!

si si, I understand that you are not trying to coerce me into purchasing Winamp Pro. But I also understand the only thing you get when I download winamp 5.05 is a little warm feeling inside and perhaps a slightly higher rating somewhere. But the 3 or 15 dollars, or whatever it cost, on the other hand, to go Pro would do... well, not much I suppose, but its money that would be invested into Nullsoft (I can find it to forgive that whole AOL associacion), one of the places with the best relative, yet entertaining news reports; and more importantly a company that does not stifle, yet rather encourages and builds on creativity of the individual.

LOL! A little warm feeling inside and perhaps a slightly higher rating somewhere? I only wish! Just trying to help is all. I'm only a lowly Moderator here - a "thankless" job, considering that the Mods here are nothing more than forum members and Winamp end-users (like yourself), and all of us volunteer our free time to help other Winamp end-users. None of us are in the employ of Nullsoft/Winamp (although I feel that Nullsoft "should" throw a bone or two our way from time to time).

Okay... I've hijacked your thread for long enough I think. Time to let others start posting with the plugins they are using, as was your initial intention when you started this thread.

I'll leave you alone now and Happy Winamping!

Its been fun though, as for me, I will go to bed now. by the way, I think the original intention was lost, but no big deal, I got about an hour and a half of fun out of it. yall mods probably have more fun than those employed... exept when yall have to go earn income

My favorite plugins:

Skins in Submenu - Places your skins into 2 submenus in the skins menu: modern and classic; good for organizing skins

Toaster for Winamp Classic - Displays notification popups with album cover art display; can be skinned too

Y!MS Status Changer - no bloat, easy to use and no ads unlike the other Yahoo Messenger status plugins

Advanced Controls Plugin - Control all the playback functions of Winamp from icons in the Taskbar Notification Area (the tray) - you won't need Winshade mode anymore when you use this

Album List 2 - Can display album covers in a list, makes switching between playlists much easier, good eyecandy too

On my 5.094 Pro, SqrSoft Advanced Crossfading v.175 for my ouput and I toggle between iZotope Ozone and Sound Solution 1.31 for my DSP.

These are the only things I added. In fact I only downloaded 3 modern skins and 2 classic ones.

This remains my usual configuation. I keep 4 different versions of Winamp though and on occasion try out the latest release, but always find myself going back to this setup........ok, and sometimes I find myself playing with various plug-ins (in fact Toaster may be still in my pl folder, but it's disabled), but since I no longer broadcast, less-is-more for me...

Hmm, it's very simple and very 'light' all in all and it never crashes or anything. Plus I only use it for music, I hear the new stuff do videos also...? I got my own players for that hehe.

Yeah, but you can just install Winamp 5.22 Lite (for basic mp3/aac and cd playback, and no video/media library/modern skin support/burning/etc, and the same old classic 2x look), or uncheck what you don't want in the installer options.

At least that way you'll have all the latest and least buggy plugins (eg. latest in_mp3.dll supports native gapless playback, lc-aac & he-aac playback, hi-bitrate mpeg2/2.5 playback, options to read/write id3v1 or v2 tags/unicode or latin tags, reading of id3v2.4 tags, and more), not to mention a huge number of bug fixes, some critical.

But hey, if you're happy with 2.x, then so be it, heh.

Yeah, I know it prolly has a lot better support for thing's, ofcourse but I usually stick to what works. Had some bad experiences with other stuff when changing to newer hehe.

The way my current -amp is, is just perfect. I need nothing more than what it already does. ^^

SqrSoft Advanced CrossFading v1.72 build 1021

Newbie here, hope I'm in the right place at the right time--using winamp v5.52 to stream to a dedicated shoutcast server with the crossfading plug in from sqrsoft...when winamp plays locally the crossfade sounds fine but when I listen to the stream off my other computer there is a noticeable "hiccup" or "skip" at the mix point as interpreted by the plug in...am I not presetting the plug in correctly or could you take a stab at what might cause this....also when I look to load preset numbers into the plug in to see what the either a user or the company itself say are the type of presets for streaming a "radio" type feed the files are in ".apf" form what the heck is this windows doesn't recognize it maybe looks like an Apple file ext.......thanks very much if any of you folks can offer some suggestions anything at this point, I'm pretty frustrated....
