Winamp 5 Music playing too fast.

Hi all,

Thanks for letting me in, I downloaded Winamp 5 and if I want to play it on my PC, it plays too fast resulting in a disturbing sound. What can I do.

Not easy to diagnose without knowing system specs, but the most common cause for this type of problem is faulty/old soundcard drivers, especially if it's an onboard sound chip.

If an onboard sound chip, check the pc or motherboard manufacturer's site for updated drivers. If it's a proper pci soundcard, then check the soundcard manufacturer's site for updated drivers.

Also make sure DirectX is up-to-date (depends on Windows OS and which Output Plugin is selected in Winamp > Prefs > Plugins > Output, ie. DirectSound Output is default on Win2k/XP, but requires DirectX v8 or higher - DXv9.0c recommended).

If it's not that, then the only other known cause of this problem is if you've installed a dsp/effect plugin which controls tempo/pitch...
Winamp > Prefs > Plugins > DSP/Effects: Select "None".
