Error Message
After doing SEVERAL clean installs, I am still missing a lot of the radio stations. The radio stations that I have, not all of them are playing, in fact I am getting an error message on some of them that states "error syncing to mpeg". This goes for the AOL Radio, AOL XM Radio, and SHoutcast stations. I am also getting audio only on the video section. I had version 5.11 Pro and it seems that since I have upgraded to 5.12 Pro that these problems came about. Is there some setting that is different that I am missing? Is this a remote server issue? I hope that the below attached HiJack This log helps. The only other thing to add is that I am using the MMD3 skin, which I had been using before. So the only change has been from 5.11 to 5.12. Please help. I am really missing being able to listen to the best holiday station on your service right now which is the AOL XM Holly X-mas channel. My list of channels under AOL Top 11 has only 3 channels in it. Thanks for taking the time to read this and look into the problem for me. Jeff

Are you using any third party Winamp plug-ins? Please provide additional system specs.
There is current maintenance on the media servers, which might explain the issues you are having. Try disabling the Microsoft Debug Manager (mdm.exe). MDM and Winamp sometimes don't get along very well. Quote:

The radio problem must bee the server work. I have now lost even more stations, but the one that started it all is back and working. Still have the other problem with the video playback. Thanks for helping. Jeff

I did notice a anti-popup application in the HjT log. Sometimes anti-popup/anti-malware apps have been know to cause issues with Winamp. Is there a exclude list you can put Winamp in?
I could not find any "red flags" with the HjT log. However, I did find a couple iffy entries... WeatherBug - apparently previous versions bundled adware... http://securityresponse.symantec.com...eatherbug.html Also, Webshots was known to previously bundle adware. However, other than that and the previously mentioned I am not sure of what is going on. I have tried various links from AOL Radio/Video and do not get the "error syncing to mpeg message". Anyone else? No luck at all with this post for the blank vid issue? |

Radio problem must be related to server work, because the station is gone again. I was glad it was back yesterday and sad when it was gone again. Anyway, Weatherbug is pro version with no ads so I think that it is ok (better be I paid for it), Webshots has not come up in any of my adware scans as being problematic, so I am hoping it doesn't either. Looking for exclusion list in anti-pop up program. The error syncing to mpeg message comes if I make the stream a playlist, and then try to play it from there. I was trying anything to get it to work. I can do this with stations that work, and have no problems. I have been trying some of the other ideas posted in other video forums and have yet to be successful, but it is a work in progress. Thanks for the help and info, we'll just keep plugging away at it and I am sure that we can figure it out. Jeff

If you are saving AOL Radio streams as playlists and one (or more) of the AOL radio streams is removed or the URL is changed during the server maintenance (or otherwise), the "error syncing to mpeg" message may be erroneously reported.
Also, for the Winamp Music & Winamp/AOL Video sections of the Online Media section of the ML or Winamp.com, there are controls to prevent the saving or making of playlists. SHOUTcast stations are independently owned operated and you can save SHOUTcast Radio/TV playlists. However SHOUTcast URLs can change form time to time, although not very often. As a result "error syncing to mpeg" may also be incorrectly reported, rather than an "error connecting" message. |
