Playing .mp4 files
Hi, I just downloaded two .mp4 files and encountered a problem I cannot solve. At first Winamp did not show anything at all when I tried to play the files, but jumped to the next file in the media library and played it. Checking with the different forums I decided that I had to download a different in_mp4.dll (I backuped the original :-)) and replace the Nullsoft one, which I did. But: the two suggested versions I downloaded, produced the same error message: "maximum number of scalefactor bounds exceeded". Could someone please help?

Are they video mp4's or just audio mp4's?
Are you using the latest version of Winamp (5.12)? Assuming the files you downloaded are legit/not corrupt, in_mp4 in 5.12 supports all mp4/m4a audio formats (with aac/aac+ content), so there's no longer any need to use the 3rd-party in_mp4 plugin. |

Thank you for Your reply: the files I downloaded were legit and non-corrupt (I have to assume) videos. The in_mp4.dlls I tried are from Audiocoding and Rarewares and I am using Winamp v.5.12. A third file, which I just got and which is a video, produces only audio, even though the video window opens up. Perhaps you could point me to a file you know to be running, so we could narrow down to the problem. Addition: I downloaded more mp4 files, which are running in Quicktime (incl. video), but show no video at all in Winamp.

Thank You for your reply: I followed the instructions at the link you provided: Preferences > Plugins > Input > Double Click "Nullsoft DirectShow Decoder... -> done
fdshow -> installed 3vix -> installed (Even though it says at your link: "Note: as from Winamp 5.12 and later, the default Nullsoft MPEG-4 Decoder (in_mp4) supports he-aac/nero digital, so there's no longer any need to use the above workaround/plugin." The result is nill! Still no video images are shown. Please advise. |

Gentlemen, I just reinstalled the original Nullsoft plugin and it works now, with the extension added to the directshow plugin. I do thank you for your involvement!

Gentleman, I am back again with the same problem, but in a different shape: as your replies above helped me to play a certain set of mp4-files (namely a BBC broadcast) nearly all the other files (mp4) I get (from podcasts) do not play. The video screen just flickers for a split second and the player jumps down to the next file. Please do advise again.

Playing .mp4 video files
I'm having the same problem playing .mp4 video files downloaded from my camcorder. I don't get any video or audio, the play button just pops up again after I click on it. I have installed v5.12 and added .MP4 to the in_dshow.dll configuration. Perhaps, is there a test.mp4 file that is known to work that I can download and try?
