my Live Broadcast is not HEARD real time

I'm running the shoutcast server on a windows 2000 machine.
The same machine is running Winamp
I worked through all of my firewall/router problems and can get logged in and hear the MP3 from other computers on the intranet and also out on the Internet at other physical locations.

From WINAMP I pressed CTRL-P to get my configuration menu up, and then went to the plug ins / DSP / for SHOUTCAST Server and hit Configure plug in.

Using this I was able to change my Input to a microphone. Then press the push to talk / Lock button and the microphone went live.

After I talk some to it. If I then use a Winamp on another machine to connect to my shoutcast server it can hear me talking. But it is not current. I realize there will be some massive delays of a few secounds in the system. But I do not want to listen to anything that has happened in the past I only want to hear as close to CURRENTLY LIVE as possible.

Right now if I say something to the mic it does not get heard across the net for several minutes. And if I log another computer into the Shoutcast server to start listening, it starts listening back at the beginning.

My temporary need is to broadcast a live voice captured off a 2 way radio to another location as a backup for when the radio reception is blocked. As such the audio stream may be hours long, but I only care about hearing the last 30 sec and forward or as close to real time as can be. Anything that was said earlier is trash.

Thoughts or suggestions? I need to try and have this running for new years eve.

Thank You
Dale

So you won't be able to use the SHOUTcast DNAS as it uses its own buffer for QoS (Quality Of Service).

You should try another server which doesn't use buffering.

Nothing is realtime

The higher the bitrate the lower the delay,

icecast has options to lower the buffer if that is any use,

Closed to real time : JetCast Server (can be used for SHOUTcast too), Steamcast (settings to reduce the delay).
