monostereo
Winamp does not make any sound in my left loudspeaker even playing stereo songs.
This really bothers me because most songs make some sounds which can only be listened in the left loudspeaker. What is this due to and how can I fix it ?? Any other sound from the computer plays in both loudspeakers so it's not due to my hardware or to my soundcard. thx |

What happens when you play the stereo sound file in Winamp and the same sound file in another program like Sound Recorder (which comes with Windows) or Audacity (if you have it)?
I have a mono sound playing right now and the left speaker (the one with the power button and volume knob on it) is about 50 dB and the right speaker is about 45 dB, even from the same distance. There isn't much difference, but this isn't a stereo sound file. I don't have any stereo sound files so I can't really test it. I can't tell the difference between mono and stereo in terms of sound quality, and since mono has a smaller file size, I use it instead. Another case, what type of file are you playing? MP3's mute the softer of the two waves in stereo as the human ear only picks up the loudest sound. I'm using WAV files though. void BlueWater() {water.color=blue; while(GameRunning) {if (fox.pos == InBlueWater) {fox.air--; FoxDrown(fox.air);} else {fox.air=1800; fox.flags = WantsToGetWet; } WaitFrames(1); }} // My top favorite thing in 2D Sonic (as C) |

You can't really tell the difference between mono and stereo unless the song playing has different sounds playing in the left and right channel.
