Using the winamp logo on a website to mark mp3 downloads
Hi
I have a question and the search did not reveal any answer to my question I want to use the winamp logo to mark legal mp3 downloads (we are creating an artist network and providing free webspace environment for them to host there work) I just want to use the flash logo with no text added to it so the page http://www.winamp.com/community/promote/ would not help ![]() Also I am no native english speaker and the layer text from http://www.winamp.com/community/promote/distribution/ is hard to understand. Would it be allowed to use the winamp logo to associate it with mp3 downloads in general? Or do I have to contact nullsoft first and get a permission? Thank you in advance for any help Best regards StarBuG |

i am fairly certian that you will need to contact nullsoft and that nobody on these forums has the authority to give you permission

That is what I thought too but I am not sure.
Using the logo for mp3 is still branding for nullsoft Of course we recommend winamp in our Site Instructions and Help Documents. That is why I asked. Maybe Nullsoft already stated somewhere that there logo can be used, somewhere I didn´t look so far. Any other insides? |

Nullsoft does not exist anymore, you'll need to contact the relevant AOL licensing group.

the distribution agreement basically states you cannot use AOL images in any way pornographic or obscene. Images cannot be used for illegal purposes(hopefully you downloads aren't) and it cannot put AOL in any bad light.
They can at any time request to view you website and review it. I would think after you fill out the form, using winamp icon for mp3 files is very appropriate use of the logo. |

We are absolutly legal
Just wanted to make sure. I think we are going to use the symbol/logo/icon We are in no way involved in any illegal activity so I don´t see any reason why aol would not allow us to use the icon. Any way if anyone still sees a reason I am still open for comments |
