MP3 playback pauses, winamp locks up and computer freezes!
Hi,
I am not going to say I am new to mp3's and winamp and the like, I have used it for many years now and love it, however I have very little knowledge on technical stuff as I only have ever needed winamp to play my mp3's and thats all. Anyway, over the last few days winamp has really been playing up on me. I haven't installed any plug-ins or anything. Infact, the same happens with mp3 playback in Windows Media player. What happens is that songs will start temporarily pausing, then resuming for a while, then pausing again. This is incredibly annoying. My computer also runs terribly slow, for instance it can take up to 20seconds for a new windwo or even the windows task manager to open up. If I can clsoe winamp, my computer clears up and it is fine again. However, sometimes the problems can be fatal and the computer locks up and needs to be restarted. I know for a fact that the files are all fine. Thiws problem has only started happening over the last few days. I have also tried playing video files in real player and windows media player and they all work fine. I have tried a scanning for viruses, adware, spyware, everytyhing... I have also unistalled and reinstalled winamp. (although now i think about it i havent actually downloaded it again, using the same install file). I am using the latest winamp, 5.12 off the top of my head. I see that you like some technical specs, I am running a laptop, 2gig centrino, 1 gig of ram, 100gig hdd, not sure about the other details. The systme felt like resources were being consumed but it isnt the case, windows task manger tells me that cpu usage and memory usage is all quite low really (when winamp is playing up like this) Anyone help me with this probelm i would be appreciated as it is really really bugging me now. (hehe, using the computer without listening to music, what has the world come to!) Thanks |
