Streaming Media Cache, Listings Fetched Limited to 1000 Streams

Under Preferences, Media Library, Online Media, Streaming Media Cache Preferences, Winamp 5.1 and 5.12 limit the number of listings fetched to a maximum of 1000 streams.

When I request a limit of 1000 or lower, that limit works. But when I request a limit of more than 1000, I get 1000 streams.

- For example, if I enter 999, I get 999 streams.
- If I enter 1000, I get 1000 streams.
- If I enter 1001, I get 1000.

Of course, that last bullet is the bug. Or am I missing something? In older versions (5.0?) I used to successfully limit to 5000 listings.

It's hard limited on the server side to 1000. Sorry.

Thanks for the quick response. Helpful answer. Dissapointing reality.

Why was this limitation introduced?

Is there a workaround (e.g., different server to point to)?

Will this limitation go away in a subsequent version?

How can I get to the less popular stations (below 1000) that I used to listen to? I can't specifically remember their URLs, so I relied on this list by searching for keywords.

Yeah, believe us, no-one's happy about the limitation, but cpu-load on the server was maxing out, amongst other issues (bandwidth, etc).

Currently, the only option is to use/search the listings at www.shoutcast.com

Sure, it would be nice if we could get the full list back again at some point in the not too distant future, heh.

Thanks for the suggestion. I got so used to the cached list in Winamp that I didn't even remember I could use the shoutcast.com directly. Thanks. Just what I was looking for.

Since you made it sound the complaint has already been lodged by many others, I'll keep my mouth shut and simply say 'thanks' for all the functionality Winamp/Shoutcast do give me. Thanks!

I find it strange, though, that although I searched a bunch for others that may have expressed my same concern, and I came up empty handed. Whatever. Case closed for now. I'm looking forward to having that functionality back. Processing power continues to get cheap. ;-)

That's all for now. Thanks.
