winamp win98SE wma
Good Day: I searched the above and got no hits; I hope you can help me. I love winamp and use the newest version on my XP desktop, but
I would like to know what version would work on my IBM x86 running win98SE. I would like to encode my audio files to wma and play them with winamp. Thank you - Tom |

Did you mean "encode your Audio CD's to WMA"?
Or do you want to transcode already exisiting files (mp3, wav, etc) to wma, or something weird like that? If the former, then the latest version is what you need (currently 5.13, though a 5.2 public beta is also available). If you don't have the required Windows Media 9.1 codecs already installed, then the Winamp 5.13 installer will download & install them for you. Depending on your processor & graphics card, you might get better results by using a classic skin instead of a modern one. |

Thank you
Thank you DJEgg. I record in Sonar Home Studio 4; after mixdown I have a stereo wave file. I could then encode with any available format that winamp accepts. I didn't realize that winamp 5x would work with win98se and an x86 processor [I'm pretty sure it's a PII 400 MHz].
Thank you so much for your time. - Tom |
