Question 1 - Output plug-ins: waveOUT or DirectSound? Do I have a choice of using either one of them, or does Winamp automatically choose which way to send the output to my speakers? Which one is better, and why?
Question 2 - There have been a few equalizer discussions on here already - is there any provision for uploading and sharing equalizer profiles? Are there any good sites to discuss equalizer setups and give some pointers? The reason I ask is because I find that sometimes I go back and forth between the various pre-set equalizer settings and eventually end up making it the way I like it. I'm sure others have done the same. |

1) You can choose the output plug-in you want to use : Preferences>Plug-ins>Output.
Then choose the plug-in of your choice. Not really sure about the techincal difference but here goes: waveout is the standard plug-in; direct sound is to be used when experiencing problems with waveout or when you want to use winamp along with an application that also produces sound (e.g. when you want to simultaneously listen to your music in Winamp and hear the SFX of a game) 2) I don't know of such things. Many people tweak the EQ settings but I've never heard about exchanging/uploading such settings. |
