No Video Display

Hello, I have a problem, and not necessarily sure it is with WinAmp. I'm certainly hoping someone has some ideas for me, because I am at a loss. (I looked thru the FAQ and searched the site before posting this).

I am using an eMachines notebook (M6810), and about a month ago I reformatted the entire hard drive. I've done all the WindowsXP updates from the Microsoft website, and I mean everything. Whenever someone sends me a .wmv file in an email to a funny short movie, etc. the audio plays but no video whatsoever. I called eMachines, even though this computer is now out of warranty and they say its probably a codec. As far as I know I am using the most recent codecs. I am now using the most recent version of Winamp and still have the audio but no video. If I go onto a website, for example, a news website, to view the latest weather report or top news story, they also do not display, only audio.

Can someone offer any suggestions as to what is going on here? I appreciate your help!

I guess your laptop has a graphic chip instead of a card, right?

Preferences -> Video -> uncheck "Allow hardware video overlay"

Maybe this helps.
