Trouble installing WINAMP 5.2

I have tried to install 5.2 on a newly formatted 80GB HDD. 2.93GHz processor, 512MB RAM and when installation program starts, it says it could not load in_asfs.dll, then continues, but has trouble installing other dll's (in_mp3.dll, out_wave.dll) and gives me the pop-up box to Ignore, Retry, or Abort.

HELP PLEASE

in_asfs.dll is a third-party plugin and therefore not supported here on the forums. You can uninstall the plugin by simply deleting it.
C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins

If that doesn't help...
Did you install any other 3rd-party plugins?
Have you tried a clean install?

Like I said, this is a newly formatted HDD, and this is a new, and therefore clean, install.

in_asfs.dll is actually the old Audiosoft plugin which used to come with Winamp 2.5x

It was removed from the default Winamp distro waaay back in 2001 ish, around the time of 2.7x

So that suggests to me that you're trying to install a really old version of Winamp, and maybe Windows is doing you a favor by not letting it install ;-)

Other than that, those type of errors usually occur if the winamp.exe process is already running, or if the folder you're trying to install Winamp to doesn't have write permissions.

I tried evrything you suggested, and nothing worked....guess I'll just stick with Windows Media Player
