I am having problems converting mp3's to wav files and fitting them onto CD. I have tried using the plug-in that does this and that is all well and good, it works, but my tracks are only 70 minutes but the size of the files are 739MB too much to put onto a CD. So i came and looked for what the problem may be. I thought it may be a bitrate problem, my original mp3's were at 192kps and so i thought that changing the bitrate to a lower bitrate and then convert these to wav files might do the trick. This didn't work either, the wav files that come out of the 128kps mp3's are identical to the ones from the 192kps mp's. I may be being naive here. I have tried using nero and cdex as i have seen suggested in other messages in here, but these don't appear to reduce the size of the files either.A 70 minute set of tracks should fit onto a 80 minute CD-R I thought, but obviously I am doing something wrong. If someone can explain what I need to do, and what in my reasoning is wrong I'd be very grateful.
Thanks, Matt |

A 80-minute CDR can store:
80 minutes of audio or 700 Mb of data. Create a new audio CD in Nero and put all your files (mp3) in the list of files to store. When creating audio Cd's, Nero puts a bar at the bottom of the screen showing the number of minutes that you have left (if you exceed the number of minutes available on your blank CDR, Nero's bar will display in red the minutes too many). Now, if you put all your mp3s (regardless of the bitrate) in the list, and if the whole duration doesn't exceed 80 minutes (or even 74 since you wish to burn 70 minutes of music), then don't worry, Nero will burn them without any problem. The latest version of Nero converts the mp3s to wav directly so you don't have to do it before; just put mp3s directly in the list. The cumulated size of the files doesn't matter here. Conclusion: when burning audio, care about the number of minutes when burning data, care about the number of bytes. If this is not clear enough, send another post. |
