I've tried a number of methods to disk write to get the best possible effect. The Sqr Soft crossfading diskwriter creates unatural transitions and often leaves a pop at the beginning of a track. It's good for just listening to my MP3s, not for diskwriting. Nullsofts diskwriter seems to be the most stable. I can convert my MP3 to wavs and run them through my Arboretum Realizer Plug-in for some gentle equalization and reverb.
I use the "disk at once" method to eliminate unecessary gaps. Even so, if the MP3s aren't trimmed, there still can be annoying gaps. I've used "MP3 trimmer" and I still end up with dead air. So........ I use a real pain in the butt slow method, but it seems to work. After using Nullsoft Diskwriter to convert my MP3s to equalized wavs, I then open the equalized wavs---one by one--- in my editor (Goldwave), and manually trim the gaps at the beginning and the end of the track, and then resave the edited wav. Then when I burn my CD with these edited wavs, I usually get the best transitions--no dead air and no pops. I dunno----any easier methods???? Seadreamer |

Are you trying to cut up long tracks? If so, there are a few things to try. CDWAVE is really cool.
The problem you are having is that your wavs aren't ending on the sector break. The burning software has to compensate for this and adds silence to fill it up or you get pops/clicks. I think the sector break is 3980, but that's only off the top of my head. Darren |
