iPod plugin has messed up my ipod library.

Symptoms:

Winamp is treating my "On-the-go" playlist as if it were the ipod itself.

It shows that the device is a 40gb model, and shows 16% free, but only shows the songs that were last in my on-the-go playlist in the library.

When I try to play music on the ipod itself, only the songs that were in that playlist remain in the ipod's library, even though all the rest remain on the device itself.

This is unacceptable.

The old, 3rd party ipod plugin worked GREAT. I have no faith in the new one. Someone help me out, please ?

EDIT: sorry, I should have posted my system information. Honestly, I know that this is a plugin problem, as nothing else with winamp has ever been a problem, and I've been using it since the 1.0 came out, way back in the day.

AMD Athlon XP 2400+
1GB DDR PC3200
Gigabyte GA-7NNXP mobo with onboard nForce2 Soundstorm Audio
Windows XP SP2, fully patched.
Winamp 5.21 Pro
Only plugin I use is the in_mpc for musepack.

Is anyone going to reply to this ? Maybe one of the developers ? I was under the impression that feedback like this was a necessary part of the development process.

I still haven't fixed my problem, and my iPod is pretty much unusable currently.

Um, yeah... There's a real polite/helpful suggestion.

Now for an actual meaningful and relevant post to this topic:

I'm pretty sure I've experienced the same problem, Kaishi. I've been using the ml_ipod plugin in the past with Winamp and my ipod and never had any problems like this.

In the last 2 weeks though, it seems like Winamp has messed up my ipod when I connect my ipod nano to my computer via USB cable and use Winamp to browse the contents of the ipod.

It takes the topmost playlist in the ipod and makes it disappear (although the music files are actually still on the ipod -- it doesn't delete them, thank goodness). It'll show the other playlists in the ipod okay.

After that happens, if I try to use iTunes with my ipod, iTunes says that it cannot read the contents of the ipod and that I need to use the "ipod updater" to restore the ipod (e.g. erase my ipod and start over).

I'm not 100% sure it's Winamp that's causing this, but it looks awfully likely and it's def NOT cool!

I'm removing the new native ipod support from Winamp and am not going to have Winamp running on my PC whenever I need to hook up my ipod to it 'cuz this has happened twice already and it's zero fun having to restore my ipod from scratch.

I absolutely luv Winamp and will continue to use it (as long as my ipod isn't hooked up to my PC), but I hope they get this problem fixed ASAP.

Just in case the other peeps posting in this thread haven't already found the other multiple threads that are discussing this topic, here's one with some good info on what causes it and what to do about it:
