More problems with WMV blank screen.

System specs:

Pentium III 866MHZ

512MB RAM

128MB RADEON 9250 video card

Creative SoundBlaster Live PCI sound card

Windows 2000 pro with sp4 and all updates.

WinAmp version 5.21 Pro

Up until 5 days ago I could play WMV videos but now all I get is blank window with sound, I have tried playing them in MS Media player and it works just fine I have also tried PowerDVD and again it works just fine. I have reinstalled WinAmp but this did not help (maybe I need to do a clean install?) MPEG or MPG work just fine.

Is there way of re associations file types, I know that in WinAmp Preferences [File Types] there is a Restore file associations at Winamp start-up, I ask this question as I have had associations file types screw up more once.

I'm stuck, so can someone please help.

Winamp > Prefs > Plugins > Input:
Windows Media Decoder v3.1 (in_wm.dll) > Config
Click the "Defaults" button.

If the problem persists, then in_wm.dll v3.1 requires the Windows Media 9.1 codecs to be installed (the Winamp installer should automatically download & install these, if not already present, and assuming you didn't uncheck or block it during installation).

If you still can't get in_wm.dll to play WMV files, then can you get them to play with in_dshow.dll instead? (remove WMV from in_wm config, and add ;WMV to in_dshow config instead)

I do not understand why it should just stop working

I have download wmfdist9.exe and install it but still the same problem so I used the in_dshow.dll instead; I how have video but no sound. I have just found in
Winamp > Prefs > Plugins > Input:
Windows Media Decoder v3.1 (in_wm.dll) > Config if you go to filetypes Ext WMV and then Edit in the Edit File Type Dialog box in the Media Type is set to Audio Only if you set to Audio/Video and click OK when you go back in to the Edit File Type Dialog box it as been reset to Audio Only, His this the problem?, If so how do I get it to set to Audio/Video. Below is a list of Codec’s installed.
