winamp causes pc to go into 8bit color mode

im sorry if this has already been posted, but i could not find it.

the problem is just as the name says. whenever i start winamp, it goes into 8bit color mode. when it is turned off, it goes back. also, if i start it and then change the colorm mode back to 32 manually it works, but this is a hassle to do every time.

specs:
ecs l7vmm3
athlon xp 2400
1g ram
via unichrome igp with latest drivers
xp pro sp2

Right-Click the program or shortcut and hit Properties. Under the Compatibility tab make sure nothing is checked, particularly "Run in 256 colors".
